About Us

Buenos Vecinos de Boquete (Good Neighbors of Boquete) is a small, all-volunteer organization that provides non-perishable food items monthly to over 130 families and individuals in need throughout the greater Boquete area. Established in 2005 by a group of local expats who recognized the needs of the most vulnerable members of the community, struggling for basic nutritional necessities. Their efforts began by funding food purchases and delivering assistance to a few families. Today, we serve over 130 families, composed of approximately 600 individuals, across the Boquete area.

How We Are Funded

Funds for purchasing food are generously provided by community members, global supporters, and corporate sponsors. Volunteers at BVB organize a variety of fundraising activities throughout the year. Our previous fundraisers have included cook-offs, wine tastings, bilingual cookbook sales, restaurant programs, raffles, multi-charity events, and food drives held in front of grocery stores.

For the past 20 years, our volunteer-operated organization has delivered nonperishable food items to many in need. To accomplish this task volunteers have been involved in ordering products, packing food bags, and delivering to families and individuals. Volunteers have also been contributing to the newsletters, organizing fundraisers, and representing this organization at varied venues such as weekly markets. We are grateful for any assistance as our volunteers play a crucial role in enabling us to serve the community in need.

Toys for Kids Drive Brings Christmas Joy to Local Children - November 23rd, 2025

This year’s Toys for Kids Drive was a success. The annual program is dedicated to ensuring that every child in the families we serve experiences the joy of receiving a gift at Christmas. Thanks to the generosity of neighbors, local businesses, and caring individuals, the drive collects toys and games for children who might otherwise go without a present. Donation boxes were placed at convenient locations throughout town, making it easy for everyone to participate.

Big Daddy’s restaurant once again hosted a special holiday dinner on Sunday, November 23, to benefit the Toy Drive. There were two seating times available for convenience and a portion of the dinner price was donated to the drive.

What a night! Our event was the perfect blend of elegance and fun in a breathtaking setting. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it unforgettable. The signature cocktails were memorable, the food was excellent, and the service from Nomad’s wait staff was superb. The event was held in celebration of Buenos Vecinos de Boquete’s 20th Anniversary of providing food support to Boquete’s neediest families.
